The thrill of the hunt - No seriously

A few weeks ago I was invited to go deer hunting by one of our bagpiper buddies. Actually he was calling to see if my husband wanted to go before the season ended at the end November but my hubby was already gone until the 1st. I thanked him for the invite thinking we’d just have to wait until next year to restock the freezer with venison.

I love this town

I've thoroughly been enjoying another summer in Cody, Wyoming. This town has some kind of magic mojo web that just grabs me and doesn't let go. Don't even want it to. The more I spend time here the more time I want to spend here – and I truly love the people here.

We always create something

With all the tasks and responsibilities we pile on our selves sometimes it's hard to keep our eye on the target. We get so immersed in doing, achieving, acquiring, running from one thing to the next, and living from Friday to Friday that we forget to pause and make sure we're still headed in the direction we originally intended to go!

My flying trapeze experience

I was shaking with fear and forcing myself not to look down. From below it doesn't seem that high, and relatively speaking, it's not. But standing up on the narrow platform looking down, it seems very high.

Spring cleaning should start in your head

This spring let's clean out the clutter in our minds. Often the state of our home can be a reflection of what's going on in our heads.

We can start our spring cleaning by relating what we've created in our physical environment to what we're experiencing in our emotional environment.

Productively unproductive

After eight, sixteen-hour days of event execution in San Diego I am finally home. Ah yes, back to my sanctuary – my favorite place on the planet. I'm going to spend the day recharging my battery and not scheduling anything.

Getting flashed!

As that big, red camera flash hit me YET AGAIN the other night (while I was driving to the airport to pick up my husband, Eric) I said to myself - well to be honest, first a colorful exclamation was yelled - but then I said to myself "okay woman, what the hell is your problem? Pay attention!"

A little suffering is okay

Sometimes the best way to help someone grow is to let him or her go through the tough stuff.

When it comes to the people we care about it's hard to say no, it's hard to say "just deal with it already!" and it's hard not to want to protect them from anything emotionally or physically uncomfortable.

Who's fan are you?

One night, maybe about 2 years ago, as we sat at the bar sharing a drink after a business meeting in Las Vegas, I asked my husband why he thought we had such a great marriage. Without hesitation he responded, "it's been a perfect evolution of myself."

I cried. There was no other answer that could have been more meaningful and significant to me.

Divide & Conquer

Your time, energy, and your thoughts are 3 of your most valuable resources.

Your thoughts will determine what's really important to you and what you decide you want to feel and do about those things.

Connecting

Connecting with people from all over is fun. It can also serve a valuable purpose in that we can give and receive objective input and observations from those who don't know us. Not having a history with a person allows us to receive a point of view that is unaffected by past "stories" we might have together, which can make being objective and unbiased tricky. We need to keep this in mind ourselves when someone we know is asking us for opinions about a personal situation.

Pearls of life

Pearls – ever notice that the word, in whatever form it's used, always refers to something beautiful?

Pearls of wisdom, the pearly gates, pearls of joy, mother of pearl, freshwater pearl...

A pearl is something that is highly regarded for its beauty or value.

Daily sweet tweet

Sometimes we have to change the way we DON'T live. Do something you crave.

Be nimble, be quick, or just chill

For me ease of living is the goal. There are times we're rushing at a frantic pace to get somewhere, to complete some project, or to check a hundred things off a to-do list (which inevitably fills back up again).

Then we get periods of time when we can just leisurely glide through days, weeks, maybe even longer.

Good ideas

Sometimes I retreat into my own space and stay there for a time. I invest in myself by soaking up spiritual energy, thinking about how I want to create my tomorrows and just overall clipping along at my own pace.

There's always more

Am I doing my best to be my best self? It's a question I frequently ask myself. I can easily get stuck in a groove and be fine with it, but after a while fine is just okay and I begin to feel like I'm shorting myself. I start craving more, something new, something special, something that takes me a step closer to being my best.

KISS works wonders

Wow do I feel good! My resolve to KISS (Keep it Super Simple) has worked like a charm for me this holiday season! Geez but giving out advice is sometimes much easier than taking it yourself - but oh so worth it!

Rome wasn't built in a day

Every now and then we just get a wild hair and think, "okay that's it! I'm doing.... or I'm changing... or I am finished with..." We start off very passionate about our resolution to change something and then something happens – or more specifically, something doesn't happen. We want the change to happen instantly – and then stay like that, but usually it doesn't play out that way.

My Time, My Shadow

Time really is on our side. It may seem like it works against us as we often find ourselves playing "beat the clock", lamenting over lost time or trying to figure out how to get more time.

Less is More

Less sounds like so much more of what I want right now. Lately I find myself:

• Craving - less responsibility to the maintenance of the minutia of life

• Desiring - to lighten up on commitments to things that eat up time and really aren’t all that important

• KISS - Keep It Super Simple
